Overview

Tajreed is a free library of icons, illustrations, and UI assets rooted in Arab visual culture. It's built for Arabic designers and for international teams working on products in the region, and it runs bilingual end to end, from the interface down to the metadata on every asset.

The problem

Arabic design work usually starts from asset libraries built for Latin interfaces. Everything reads left to right, the icon language is Western, and Arabic type arrives as an afterthought. The designer either compromises or rebuilds from scratch.

Approach

I built the first version in Framer to test the idea quickly, designed the full system in Figma, then rebuilt it in Next.js on Vercel with Supabase behind it once the library outgrew a site builder. Asset metadata is generated through an automated pipeline instead of being typed by hand.

Highlights

• Bilingual AR/EN interface, with Arabic as the primary language
• Supabase backend, passwordless email sign-in with Google as fallback
• Automated metadata pipeline: Dropbox, image analysis, structured records
• A full English layer over a product that is Arabic at its core
• Free to use, with a per-account download cap instead of a paid tier

Outcome

The library is live on its own domain with more than 1,300 asset pages indexed, and new assets publish weekly. Search and Pinterest carry the growth instead of paid acquisition.
